Paige Parker, Founder/Director

  
Paige is the founder and director of the SISC and a true local island girl born and raised in Lake Park and on Singer Island. Paige attended all Palm Beach County schools including Northwood University where she graduated Sigma Cum Laude with a BA in Business Management. Paige is also a PADI Rescue, Deep Water, Wreck, Night and Advanced Open Water certified diver and is CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard and Ocean Rescue Certified. Paige is licensed Florida Realtor and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach volunteering for numerous local and global missionary events in Belle Glade, Haiti, The Bahamas, and Cuba. 

John "JC" Hurt

 
 
JC has been on staff since 2005 and is by far one of the favorites with the kids. JC grew up in Florida surfing, windsurfing, diving and studying Florida's native fish and wildlife species. JC has traveled extensively surfing California, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and throughout the Carolinas. Currently JC splits his time between the east and west coasts of Florida continuing his work with the Surf Camp while studying environmental science technology. JC is also Lifeguard, Ocean Rescue, CPR, and First Aid certified. 

Matt Arensman

 
 
 
 
 
 

Matt was born and raised in California where he began surfing at age 3. Surfing is by far Matt's favorite sport but he also enjoys anything to do with the outdoors that's fun and active including fishing, diving, paddle boarding, biking, and snowboarding.  Matt also loves to travel, especially going home to California to surf the cold Santa Cruz Waves. Matt has worked as a Lifeguard Lieutenant in Lavallette, New Jersey, Ocean Lifeguard in Delray Beach, FL, as a USLA Training Officer, and a Lifeguard Swim Instructor. Matt's motto for living is, “In life it does not matter what you’re doing, as long as you charge it!” And Matt does just that personally and professionally as is evident in his dedication to his training and certifications which include:

NREMT/ Florida State – EMT -B, USLA Class A Certified Ocean Lifeguard, American Heart Association – BLS for Healthcare Provider Certified, CAL FIRE – 40 Hour Firefighter Safety Certification, CAL FIRE – Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness/Operations Certification, CAL FIRE – Confined Space Rescue Certified,  Butte Fire Academy – Fire Protection Equipment Systems Certification, Butte Fire Academy – Fire Behavior and Control Certification, Butte Fire Academy – Building Construction and Fire Protection Certification, and Butte Fire Academy – Intro. To The Fire Service Certification.                                                                                                                                                                

 

Lesa Shoeman 

 
Lesa is another Palm Beach County native growing up in the Delray Beach area and has a long list and history of certifications that makes her one of our finest instructors. Lesa has been lifguard certified since 1988 and WSI certfied since 1997. Lesa is also a certified lifguard trainer and instructor, attended Florida State University where she studied medicine and earned a certification in preventive disease control, is PADI, FDLE, FDCF, CPR, and First Aid certified, and is a spring board dive instructor. As a proud mother of two, Lesa enjoys many outdoor sports such as surfing, camping, snowboarding, ice climbing, and repelling.

 

Dean Parker 
 
 
 
Paige's older brother and surfing inspiration has been surfing since 1972. Dean has traveled extensively for surf to such locations as Hawaii, California, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico. Dean is a former Palm Beach County Lifeguard, is PADI, FDLE, and FDCF certified and is Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid trained. Dean currently lives in Costa Rica and heads up our Costa Rica Surf Camp Division

 


Rebecca George

 

Rebecca George is going into her senior year in high school, in which she will be early admitting at Palm Beach State College. In school she plays both basketball and runs track. Rebecca is also involved in many extra- ciriccular groups such as National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She also has her Lifeguard certification and AED / CPR certification. 

 

Devin Voler 

 

Devin  Volder has been going to surf camp for five years and is going into his junior year of high school at South Tech Academy where he studies Marine Mechanics. He is actively involved in surfing and has been doing local competitions and enjoys everything to do with the ocean. Devin has his Lifeguard Certification and his AED/CPR certification.

 
 
Chelsey Smith
 
 

Chelsey Smith will be a Junior at Royal Palm Beach High School and has been attending surf camp for seven years. She plays basketball and volleyball for her school and also plays travel basketball. She is involved in Student Government and TV production. Chelsey has her Lifeguard, CPR, and AED certification. She also has a certification to care for infants and school-age children (babysitting) and is one of the Surf Camp's parents and kids favorite out of Camp sitters!

 

 
Olivia Oropesa-Deas
 

Olivia has been a special part of Surf Camp for five years. Her kindness and patience with the kids makes her a true stand out! Olivia is going into her Junior year at Seminole Ridge Community High School and is in the Accipiter Academy for early admissions for college her senior year. She plays flag football and will be trying out for the upcoming school season. Olivia is Lifeguard and AED/CPR certified.

Singer Island Surf Camp Internships are available for ages 17-19!

Participants will learn water safety, beginning surfing instruction, and all other aspects of surf camp operations on an introductory level. Participants will receive paid tuition to Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and/or Water Safety Programs when applicable. Participants need no experience, just a love of the ocean and kids! Space is limited.
